From the 2016 Berkshire International Film Festival Bruce Dern Tribute and award ceremony. These clips take place after a special screening of Silent Running and before a screening of Nebraska. Here Dern and Trumbull reflect on their time working on Silent Running from 1972, which was Doug's first time writing and directing a feature. Here he recollects how Bruce was able to perform a scene of great emotional intensity by conjuring up a tragic moment in his life. I love how Doug humbly admits how Bruce taught him about acting and what actors do. Dern then remembers getting an exciting movie offer mid-shoot and having to break the news to Doug. Throughout the discussion you can really see how these two have real admiration for one another. Enjoy!
